As some of you know, we've been working off and on with the development of Hunter Noctalis for over a year with various directions and platforms. Plans have changed for it more than once during this period, but we're finally ready for a beta release.

Hunter Noctalis is similar to Algadon in a lot of ways. It's built using the same core system, but with enhancements, better balance, hunt achievements, and more. We're certainly not replacing Algadon. Algadon will continue on, and received some enhancements just today, in fact.

So, being that Hunter Noctalis is based on the same system as Algadon, you may be asking why you would be interested in playing it. Some of the key reasons are listed below:
  • Get in early for an advantage. When you start a game from the beginning, you're ahead of the pack, know more than new comers, and have access to items that may not be available all the time.
  • Hunter Noctalis does not, and will not, have any luck items. So, you don't have to worry about anyone having an advantage because you happened to have a bad luck run or someone having access to more luck, runs, etc. In fact, the game is not setup the same way with unlimited drops. You gain featured items for completing hunts as achievements primarily.
  • No need to ever start an account over. You only become stronger as you go up, and there are no disadvantages or anything that can be missed or done "wrong" that gives a significant disadvantage.
  • The Team system (like Clans) is not activated at this time, but when it is, it will have many improvements to help with fake wars and other related issues. Algadon will be getting these improvements also shortly after the Team system is released on Hunter Noctalis.
  • Items are not overpowered. Due to the way Algadon is setup, legendary items had to be made a lot more powerful than originally intended over time due to the way the game developed. This made early legendary item purchases less valuable. This will not occur with Hunter Noctalis. Featured items will maintain their value, and the system has been planned considering all that has been learned from Algadon.
  • Bosses are always available! Even when you are level 1000, you can still battle the level 1 boss! There are not as many boss drops, but the ones there are all featured items and rare. Something to work towards!
  • Bounties are more limited so that players are not constantly being posted. This has also gone live on Algadon mostly today as well.
  • We have removed the lottery. Many complain that the same people always win the lottery in Algadon. Hunter Noctalis does not have a lottery, which will prevent any issues some may have in this regard.
  • Not as many featured/legendary items. There will be far less items than in Algadon for simplicity, but new items will be rotated in periodically, and old items rotated out. They will mainly have similar stats/value, though, except for specials and holiday items.
  • No rejuv items. At this time, we do not plan for there being this functionality in HN. This could change depending on feedback, but it's the current plan.
  • Leveling is slower. The progression in Algadon is faster than we intended. In HN, that has been improved, but at the same time, each level counts more.
  • IGC is more meaningful and something to work towards/a challenge.
  • The game is in beta. Therefore, it is more open to tweaks and adjustments than Algadon. So, we welcome your feedback. Being beta, things can be changed more easily.
  • Featured items are less! Although you will notice that credits are available in smaller packages, featured items still cost a lot less from the conversion. Therefore, they'll be more accessible to more players.

That covers a lot of the changes, but there will be more developments, and you may find some not even mentioned here as well.

We got off to a bit of a rocky start due to login issues with Internet Explorer, and then cookies needing to be cleared for everyone after the fix to be able to login, but it's all resolved now.

We hope you enjoy HN, and if you have any questions, let us know!
